Have you ever had a strong belief that you were so confident in you were convinced it was an absolute certainty? Most of us have, and still do. Some beliefs become so strong, in fact, that they shape the very reality in which we live. They embed themselves so deeply in our being that we automatically reject or ignore any evidence that contradicts them.
The question you have to ask yourself, if you have beliefs such as these – and you almost certainly do – is whether or not they are limiting or edifying beliefs. Read more..
Every behavior has a positive intention

It’s one of the NLP Presuppositions – ‘Every behaviour has a positive intention’ but what does it actually mean? At first glance you might be forgiven for thinking that it’s implying that everything anyone does is intended to do good. But that isn’t what it means. (And I’m sure that you can think of some behaviours that certainly don’t do good to others.) The NLP Presuppositions are filters. They’re ways of looking at the world that can create more constructive results if we choose to use them. You don’t have to believe that a presupposition is absolutely true in order to practice using it and get the benefit of it. Read more..

If you are reading this blog it stands to reason that you are interested in personal development on some level. Perhaps the interest is motivated by a desire to succeed, or to find purpose, or to achieve some other goal. Regardless of the motivation, it is unlikely that you can achieve your goals without improving some aspect of yourself, which is where personal development comes in. Read more..
7 secrets of self-motivation
Written by Diane Lowther of Brilliant Minds
(http://www.brilliantminds.net)
1. All motivation is self-motivation. Nobody else can motivate you. What they can do, however, is either support or distract from your own motivational process. Notice whose style adds to your self-motivation and who gets in the way of it. Consider coaching some of the key people in your life in how to enhance your self-motivation or in how not to derail your motivation
2. Very few people can perform at their best all day. Keep track of the times of day when you are mentally most alert, when you are most communicative and when you are most creative. Wherever possible plan to spend time doing the kind of task that comes easily at that time. This avoids wasting energy to motivate yourself to go against your natural inclinations. Read more..
What is reality?

You may not realize it, but you are on a journey right now. The journey is your life and you are navigating this journey using a map. That map represents your reality. It is created as you move along your life’s journey based on your experiences. As you experience different things, you form beliefs and values, and learn to perceive your world in particular ways, thus creating the map that you follow. And the way you perceive your world creates your reality. Read more..
Well-formed outcomes

How can you get what you want unless you know what it is? Many of us think we know what we want. We know we want a nice house on the beach, or a new car, or more time to spend with friends and family.
However, while we may have an idea about what we want in life sometimes we haven’t really given thought to how to get what we want, what the real costs will be when we get it, or even if getting what we want is aligned with our values and life’s purpose.
Without thinking seriously about these aspects, getting what we want may be impossible, or in the end turn out to be not at all like what we thought it would be. Read more..
The value of being flexible
Behavioral flexibility allows you to adapt your behaviors to achieve your goals.
Life is a dynamic and complex system. Think about all of the choices you make every day, all of the situations you face, the problems you solve. Even a “simple” life is extremely complex.
Most of us go through life without fully realizing just how complex our lives really are. Sure, we all feel stressed out or stretched to the limit sometimes, but for the most part we do not really understand just how complex our day to day existence really is. And that is a good thing. If we really paid attention to all of the stressors in our daily lives we would go insane. Read more..
Overcoming limiting beliefs

Beliefs are powerful things. They can limit or empower us. The good news is that you have the ability within you to change, eliminate or create your beliefs.
A belief is an opinion about something, or how something should be. Although we often accept many of our beliefs as fact, they really are all just self-imposed rules we live by, and do not necessarily reflect actual reality.
We have beliefs about everything – about other people, about ourselves, about relationships, about nearly everything we are aware of – if even on a subconscious level.
Some of these beliefs are more concrete than others, but all of our beliefs act as filters on our perceptions of the world around us. They often act as self-fulfilling prophecies. Read more..
